Dear All

Another busy and medal winning week as we get towards the end of the basketball and badminton seasons.

Basketball

Y11 boys basketball squad had their final league game of the season in the knowledge that a win away to Cove would seal the league win and with a cup final still to come.

They did just that with a 41-30 win and sealed the title in a bruising encounter with all of the squad contributing. The opposition teacher said that the way they played as a team was the best he had seen in his 15 + years of being a teacher.

Netball

The Y9 girls finished their season with a 19-2 win away at Cove as well (they will be sick of us this week!) New student Lisa represented the school for the first time as well and Eleanor was player of the match!

Football

The restart of the football season saw 4 of our squads get out on the grass.

Y7 finished the league season with a 7-1 win over Salesian College to finish 2nd in their league and gain promotion to the top league next season. Goals from Chase (2 and POTM), Kutenda, Tyler, Jamie, Fletcher & Freddie. A great first season from a very promising bunch of boys that are a pleasure to take on fixtures.

U16 girls had another big win (11-2) v Farnham Heath End. A couple of debuts from Cienna and Niamh with too many good performances to pick and individual POTM. However, Sophie, Eva, Gemma and Isabella were noteworthy for their contributions of goals or assists.

The Y9 boys went down 2-1 to Ash Manor with JJ and Ronnie players of the match. We had a few players missing so the boys did well against the potential league winners.

The Y8 boys played Salesian college with a severely depleted team for a variety of reasons. They lost to a very strong opposition but have a couple of games left to finish the season on a high!

Cross country

The Y7 and Y8 students had their turn to don the green vest at the district cross country held at LWC.

Matt won the Y8 boys race, Jamie was 6th in the Y7 boys and Lottie was 10th in the Y7 girls. Overall team results saw Y7 boys finish 6th and Y7 girls finish 5th.

Badminton

Of the 6 teams in our district, Eggar’s had 2 teams out of the 4 that our district sent to the county championships held at Westgate Badminton centre this week.

KS4 girls came up against some tough opposition but got better as the competition went on to finish top 10 in Hampshire. The KS3 boys were superb winning each of their pool matches 3 - 2. They went out in the semi-finals to a Thornden team containing the number 1 ranked U14 boy in England but then picked themselves up to win the 3rd / 4th placed playoff and came away with the bronze medal. A great result for a set of boys that love Mr Dance and Mr Burbidge's badminton club!
